In 1961 the Comet received a longer stroke ,170 cubic inch version of the six cylinder engine which added 20 horsepower. The new engine was welcomed by the station wagon buyers wishing to carry heavy loads. Visibly the Comet received a new grille with horizontal bars, modified name plates and trim marks. All models had a two-speed automatic transmission option.
A fresh-up styling gave this intermediate size car a new look for 1967. The Comet cam in three sizes and 13 models that year. The 202 (shown) was 195.9 inches long. The Capri, Caliente, Cyclone and GT models were 203.5 inches long and the Wagons were 199.9 inches.
