The rear-engined Corvair received several updates as well as two new station wagon models in 1961.The luggage compartments on the sedans and coups were enlarged by moving the front panels forward, changing the shape of the gas tank and moving the spare tire to the engine compartment in the rear.

To make that possible the the tall, single air cleaner in the centre was replaced with two lower on the engine. The Gasoline heater was replaced by a built-in, forced hot-air system with a  booster blower.

Engine warm-up was improved due to new re-circulation of air in the engine compartment. The Lakewood, four-door station wagon placed the engine beneath the rear cargo deck.

1965 Corvair Corsa

1965 Corvair Corsa was powered by a 164 cubic inch 6 cylinder that generated 180 HP. Priced at $2600 this car had a great design for the time.

In 1961 Corvair added a four-door station wagon called the Lakewood to the coupe and four door sedan models. The also created a Camper wagon called the Greenbrier,  along with commercial vans and pickups based upon a 95-inch wheelbase/chassis. All models used the air-cooled rear engine, Luggage space on the Sedan and coupe was increased by moving the the spare tire to the engine compartment.
